My thoughts after one week of traffic battling by WoodyRoundUp

For the past week, I have been trying to get the traffic to my site. These two sites, BlogMad and BlogExplosion have helped me to achieve ranking 17 at the moment for the Internet Marketing/Web Design category in BlogTopSites.

What a great experience.

Let me give you a brief comparison for both.

BlogMad is new. It gives you one point for each surfing, which is very helpful because you don’t need to struggle hard to get even for one point. BlogMad also has a nicer user interface. And the random (Mystery) bonus can be very big. It also has many types of games that you can play to earn more points. There are not many users in the site yet (currently 2040 blogs), because it is new. I am not sure whether you should call this an advantage (because your blog get seen more), or a disadvantage (because you can’t have a lot of unique visits). I was surprised yesterday when their database is totally crashed for a few hours. I believe that’s probably a few hours before it crashed, it was giving away double points, and that have increased the traffic terribly. Hopefully they will be ready when they are flooded by more visitors in the future.

BlogExplosion is a veteran in the Blog Traffic industry. At the time of writing, it has about 38092 blogs listed. What I don’t like from BlogExplosion is the points for surfing. You get only 0.5 points for one site, and for that, you need a longer time to click on the next site. At one point, I get a mystery bonus of 2 points. That was not very big at all, wasn’t it? The best feature in BlogExplosion, in my opinion, is the Battle of the Blogs. Currently I won one battle, and I got 15 points from that. Not bad eh? Oh, you can also rent a space to other people as well. Currently I have got “Rob in China” as my tenant.
Right now, I am trying BlogClicker. This one seems to be hard point as well and there are not many options of earning points, except by paying money.

Hope this will help people in identifying which website is better. I suggest you go for both.

What do you think, all bloggers out there?

  1. Honestly, I don’t think either are a good bet unless all you care about is hit count. If you want READERS, it’s better to post in forums that interest you with a link to your blog and people will find you that way. Otherwise, it’s more of blog whoreing, where number of customers take the place of quality of service

  2. While most people find that blogmad drives up their hits, others moan because they don’t get regular visitors.

However we, at blogmad, strive to create a scenario where all we do is drive traffic, create reciprocal linking and send the search engines into a frenzy crawling the sites of our members. Through our unique systems, such as the VARB system, we can allow people to get the content indexed by search engines by interlinking the joining blogs.

What this means is that after a few months of being a blogmad member the content on your site will start getting searched for by the search engines.

Thus giving you a better grip on traffic.

Hope that makes any sense :)

  3. I agree with the blog whoring but it’s a fun concept. I’ve only been with Blogmad a couple of days but I have a couple people who keep coming back. I also assume that’s because I comment on people’s sites rather than just looking for points…

  4. My problem with BlogExplosion (not sure how BM handles it) is that when you DO win a random credit stash… they apply it to your ratio… so if you win 10 credits and have your credits split so you only earn .5 credits per click (with .5 automatically going to hits) you only ACTUALLY increase your credit stash by 5 credits.

  5. Is there any special techniques that can be used to optimize a wordpress blog on my server for SEO. One issue I see is no way to change the title tags on each page, where it seems to take the blog name for the home page.
I have several hundred 600+ inbound links.
I have pinged Technorati manually and used pingoat as well as pingomatic every time I add a new blog.
There is plenty of content, about 30 articles.
What else can I do? What else should I do to optimize my blog?
